Christian Friese of Calgary, Canada donated organ pipe No.3 for the new Schuke Organ in the Saint Marien Andreas Church with his gift of €100-. Christian grew up as a child in Rathenow with his brother Bernhard. The poultry farm in the Rhinower Landstrasse belonged to his father. The family fled from the communists to West Germany and later emigrated to South Africa, where both boys spent their youth and began their professions. Christian studied philosophy in South Africa and later produced rattan furniture. He and his family emigrated from South Africa because of apartheid and unrest to Canada, where he began a successful business making furniture for restaurants and hotels, including for the 1988 Olympic Games. Today he lives on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
